Willy Return to Libreville for Encore

Air Assault Golf Club, Port Harcourt professional golfer, Gift Willy has returned to Libreville in Gabon where he hopes to defend the Libreville Open title he won last year.

Willy choice of Libreville Open is at the expense of a local schedule which would have pepped-up his standing on the ‘order-of-merit’. The Nigerian schedule is the CMCL Championship which has been slated to tee-off at the Smokin Hills Golf Club, Ilara Imokin near Akure in Ondo State same weekend as the Libreville Open.

Willy’s golf career is littered with a number of wins from Gabon. He won the Port Gentil Open twice in 2012 and 2013 and returned in 2014 to win the Libreville Open which he is looking forward to defend by the time the event holes-out on Sunday May 24, 2015.

Earlier in the year, he fell to one of the lowest finishes at the Moanda Open where he finished in fifth place watching Ghana-born Vincent Torgah make a treble-win at the event.

On the way to winning the Libreville Open last year, Willy faced some tough oppositions from Olapade Sunday and Emos Korblah who have both pulled out of the event this year to compete at the CMCL Open this week. The development leaves Willy with local star Brice Moukagni as his chief contender for the 10, 000 Euros worth title.
