Nigeria’s number one ranked player, EmosKorblah returned last weekend to assert himself on the tour ranking with a win at the Uduaghan Valedictory Tournament.
Korblah, shot 297, nine over par at the Ibori Golf and Country Club in Asaba to outwit the 95 professional players that assembled for the tournament. “It has been up and down for me this season” says the Ghanaian-born player after the victory.
“I think my game is beginning to come together again, but more than that, we have had some good run from other players too this season” he added.
Korblah was three shots ahead of Olapade Sunday winner of penultimate week’s CMCL Championship at the Smokin Hills, while KamaluBako from Kano Golf Club finished in third place.
JideBolaji, Professional Golfers’ Association of Nigeria’s tournament coordinator said that, the rate at which many winners has been produced at the first half of the year on the tour is encouraging.
“Apart from Korblah, no player has won twice this season and that on his own has thrown up a number of numbers of players on the ranking system. If you again consider that the Tour accommodates a lot of international player you would also appreciate that it also translates to” he said.
