Sunday Odegha last weekend shot 69, three under par to set a new course record at the fourth anniversary Pro-Am of the Lakowe Lakes and Country Club in Lekki, Lagos.

Speaking to pganigeria.com after his win, Odegha described the green as “faultless” and the layout as “superb”

“It was my second time of playing the course and one could easily forget that there has been a first time, the course just wows you. I hit fourteen fairways , but the course can be unforgiving if you stray, I had upper hand because my game was in good shape” he said.

The former Nigeria’s number one said the win was a good assessment of the condition of his game and he looks forward to knocking up more wins when the Nigerian Tour gets back on.

Odegha shoved Ikeja-based Chidi Tobias to the second place with three shots difference while the pair of Lateef Lasisi and Emeka Obi placed third with 76, four over par a piece.

Head of Operation of the facility, Femi Olagbenro said the one-day fourth anniversary event was the best in the history of the club.

“We were overwhelmed by the turnout of players, it all shows how much impression our facility and hospitality has made on golfers; and that is very encouraging.” He said.

Meanwhile, in the Pro-Am event where the amateurs’ score were paired with professionals, the team led by former Nigeria’s best player, Gboyega Oyebanji and included Idowu Babalakin, Hector Okposo and Leif Maccsson were crowned winner.

Peter Eben-spiff also received an award for his third consecutive single match play win at the club.

“Although the economy took a toll on corporate patronage of the anniversary event, we had good turnout of golfers at the event. It was a memorable outing for all the parties involved” Olagbenro added.
