The current PGA of Nigeria Ladies sensational player Bola Mustapha has applauded the courage of the lady professional golfers in Nigeria after her victory at the 2022 Plateau State Governor’s Cup in Jos.
Recall the lady professionals showed courage, commitment and professionalism at tournament which held under the cold and windy Jos weather.
“I’m so pleased at the moment and happy about the performance of PGA of Nigeria Lady professionals in golf; they are showing great courage to be the best in their game in spite of all odds; in good or harsh situations they have shown they are committed professionals to reckon with.
“I just hoped that next time our performance will be more encouraging for people to know that we are trying; after all, lady professionals’ event is just starting, in the next two years or so, we will have more lady professionals and the game will be more competitive,” she enthused.
The Ikoyi Club lady professional who shot 85, 82, 83 over three days to lift her second professional title since turning a professional in the first half of 2022 made the statement in a chat with SOKOnnect reminiscing on the Plateau State Governor’s Cup tournament which was concluded over the weekend.
Mustapha who was the best student during the PGA of Nigeria Qualifying School exam which was conducted in Bayelsa State, however called on the association’s authorities to look into the concerns of the ladies to enable them seamless progress in game.
“The only challenge we have now is that the PGA of Nigeria should please consider the ladies in terms of tee box arrangement; the markings should be clearer for us to recognise them, particularly during competitions,” she explained.
She concluded by demanding for more tournaments to keep the players busy as professionals: “We need more tournaments, because presently there’s not much tournaments; more tournaments will keep us busy as professionals.”
Recall also that Bola Mustapha won her first tittle recently, at the Investiture Golf Classics in Aba ; she played 84, 77, 82 over three days.
A total of nine lady professionals participated in the week-long Pro-Am which held at the Lamingo Golf Club, Jos with golfers from across the country.
